With this, I reach the end of my collection. Henceforth, I may post when I wear a new tie, but not every day. I will also be giving prizes to the best and worst tie makers

With these floral ties, we can detect a longing for spring. Also, in the case of the seond, I was bound for a poetry reading.

 

Wednesday's and Thursday's ties

No bow tie but the black funeral tie, which you have already seen, on Friday, so here are the last two ties of the week just gone

My father's tie

I inherited this tie from my father. Its rectangular ends are unusual; for no very good reason I associate this style with America.
I inherited few ties from him. For work he relied on a BMA tie or his Downing tie which struck the right notes of medical gravitas. In his wardrobe there was a wild tie in the 1950s painted style, depicting a parrot. It amused us greatly, though I never saw him wear it. It would have not been suitable to wear while delivering an unfavourable diagnosis.

A Liberty tie

I rarely wear this one, indeed thought it might have been a sartorial error, but I think it has a place. My photography gets even worse

 

I ought to tell you, dear reader, where these pictures are taken. Generally I take the #tieoftheday photograph either at home before setting out, or at Seaford station, as in this case, while waiting for the 6:30 to appear, or on the train itself.

Two ties to end the week

Continuing the bow-tie theme here's one by Hackett and one by Truefitt & Hill. Can you tell which is which? For no extra charge, I include a scarf. On the train home, the ensemble with the scarf, finished off with a pair of red corduroy trousers out of shot, prompted a perceptive young woman, who appeared both sober and sane, to tell me I was 'handsome'.

First tie of 2011

The renaissance of #tieoftheday, and hence of this blog, is explained by the fact that in the exercise that ended in redundancy last summer I didn't get round to wearing bow ties.
I have now resolved to wear nothing but until all have been shown to the world.
For my first day back, I chose this. It's one of my favourites. I thought it was a Turnbull & Asser, but it turns out to be by Hackett.

The last tie of 2010

This, by Turnbull and Asser, will be the last tie of 2010, for I finish work this evening.
I hope I have provided some amusement. I will press on with the bow-tie phase of the project in the new year.

Another bow

This is a Liberty one; I seem to have caught the cravatomancy bug. I cannot wait to wear the last one in my collection because, obviously, I would have to call it HIs Last Bow. Ho ho ho.

However, tomorrow is my last day at work until the new year, so my hommage to Conan Doyle will have to wait

The return of tie of the day

In honour of the Research and Development party this evening, I put on a bow-tie.
I excluded bows from this summer's #tieoftheday project, but I have several, including some that were my father's and I am tempted to wear them, and, naturally, record the results.
Not everyone can carry them off. My father certainly could, and bow-ties are in any case often affected by doctors, fir infection control reasons. I think, at 55, I probably have sufficient gravitas to get away with one.
