2023 is over, as far as running is concerned, my last run being Seaford Beach parkrun this morning. Much to my astonishment the year shows some improvement. I recorded my highest total running distance since 2018, 545 miles, and that without running anything longer than a 10k-and-a-bit.
I’m not sure what to attribute this to, except that I have been more rigorous in ensuring I run every other day, and that I join the Seaford Striders club run every other week. I have added a little more distance, breaking out of the 3mile/5k rut I seemed to be stuck in.
I entered few races, the King’s Head Canter, the Lewes Downland Five, the Crowborough 10k and the Rathfinny Christmas run. I led a Couch to 5K group in the spring. I stepped back from membership of the Seaford Beach parkrun event team, so as to have more time to run. I was volunteering nearly every week and, since I have volunteered 179 times at 144 events, and only run 121 times, I think I can justify that decision, which allowed me to run East Brighton and Uckfield parkrun for the first time.
